Situated on the forks of Casco Bay, you'll find Wolfe's Neck Farm. A stunning coastal treasure sprawling over 600 acres of conservation land offering farm-based education, research, and visitors from near and far. The Smith Center for Education and Research was conceived from the growing interest and expansion of internal offerings as well the opportunity to host external groups of varied sizes. The footprint of a relocated dairy barn became the foundation in which The Smith Center was built. This 7,500 sq/ft nucleus is a completely fossil fuel-free facility built to Passive House standards.
Assembly spaces take on themes of meadow, forest, and bay paying homage to the surrounding grounds and views throughout. Playfulness is at the forefront of the classrooms. Custom murals give a splash of personality and strokes of color. A central artery that divides the Center acts as a revolving gallery for artists. Curved oak chairs offer a unified expression of uncluttered aesthetics and functionality with the ability to stack and a lightness that complements the minimalist shell of the structure. Collaborations with local craftsmen were at the helm of custom furniture designs which offer flexibility in accommodating various configurations: hosting congregations of 100+ or smaller, intimate breakout pods. Materials are clean, calm, and natural. An inspiring setting to help make our impact a positive one.
